As the year draws to a close, I love looking forward to whatever the new year has in store. Yesterday, Disney Parks Blog announced that both the Lunar New Year Celebration and the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will return to Disney California Adventure Park in 2023. The Lunar New Year celebration will run from January 20 through February 15, 2023, and the Disney California Food & Wine Festival will run from March 3 through April 25, 2023.
Chinese New Year, January 20 – February 15, 2023
Disney California Adventure park celebrates Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese culture with a multicultural Lunar New Year celebration in honor of the Year of the Rabbit, the zodiac animal that symbolizes good luck. Disney also celebrates the Vietnamese zodiac calendar during the celebration of the Lunar New Year, which marks 2023 as the Year of the Cat.
Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are on hand to greet guests in their festive attire, plus Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Mulan and Mushu Mulan.
The vibrant and exciting “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” features numerous spirited parade performers that honor family, friendship and the potential for a prosperous New Year. In 2023, the processional parade route will be extended from Paradise Gardens to Hollywood Land.
Local foodies will be excited about the addition of two new Lunar New Year marketplaces: Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love. Of course, they’ll join the returning marketplaces, including Lucky 8 Lantern, Prosperity Bao & Buns, Red Spice Traders, and Longevity Noodle Co. Enjoy your Sip and Savor pass as you make your way through the participating marketplaces and eateries.
Ahead of the presentation of “World of Color”, “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration” also returns, telling the story of a little lantern looking to reunite with family for the annual celebration of luck and fortune. Check the Disneyland app for showtimes.
