Florida Georgia Line, or FGL, was founded in 2010 by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, two singer-songwriters who have since gathered an army of devoted fans thanks to their songs “This Is How We Roll” and “Small Town.”
Over the years, Tyler and Brian occasionally fought, leading to fan speculation about a possible divorce. FGL stated in the summer of 2022 that they would suspend operations. On August 31, 2022, they had played their last concert. Can you explain what happened?
Why did the Florida Georgia Line (FGL) break up?
One of the most publicized feuds among band members involved their radically different political beliefs. Opinions diverged during the 2020 US presidential campaign. Tyler and his wife, Hayley, unfollowed Brian on Instagram — which eagle-eyed fans immediately took as an ominous sign.
Following their final performance at the Minnesota State Fair on August 31, Tyler and Brian announced their intention to disband the band. For now, Tyler and Brian have not provided any further information to the press.
Although The Tennessean reports that they have given up on making music together, they say they have not yet decided what to do with their business activities. The FGL House is a 22,000-square-foot, four-story restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee, not far from the Johnny Cash Museum.
However, the publication reports that no further plans for its establishment have been announced. Tyler is willing to continue as a solo artist in the music industry. In August 2022, he released his debut solo EP titled ‘Dancin’ in the Country’.
There are five songs on ‘Dancin’ in the Country’ and they are as follows: ‘Baby Gets Her Lovin’, ‘Everybody Needs a Bar’, ‘Inside and Out’, ‘I’m the Only One’ and ‘ 5 foot 9.” Tyler has worked with a who’s who of the industry.
All three artists mentioned above – Keith Urban, Jon Nite and Ross Copperman – contributed to the album. Tyler has been confirmed to release a studio album, an even more intriguing venture.
The self-titled work is scheduled for release on January 27, 2023. In 2021, ‘Sunshine State of Mind’, Brian’s debut solo album, was released. He recently signed a deal with BMLG Records and dropped ‘American Spirit’ just in time for the July 4, 2022 celebration.
What have fans said about the split?
Shortly after word began to spread, several of the band’s followers took to Twitter to express their dismay at the breakup. One fan commented, “Wow, I didn’t know Florida Georgia Line had gone out of business until now. Avoid sending and receiving text messages.
“It’s a disaster that the Florida Georgia Line broke up,” said another. Even though their followers will surely be disappointed by the split, it’s not the end of the road for either of them professionally. Variety reports that Hubbard will release his first solo album in 2019 and will tour with Keith Urban and Ingrid Andress. During her residency in Florida, Kelley will also premiere her solo songs.
How many albums has Florida Georgia Line released?
After the release of their debut album Here’s To the Good Times, which featured the hit singles “Cruise” and “This Is How We Roll” (both featuring Luke Bryan), FGL quickly became a household name.
They followed that up with four more studio albums and a greatest hits CD. There are four full-length albums by FGL that have been released over the years. Their albums include:
- Here’s the Food Times (2013)
- Everything is allowed (2014)
- Dig Your Roots (2016)
- Can’t Say I’m Not Country (2019)
- Life Goes On (2021)
During that time, FGL also collaborated with various artists, including Nelly, Tim McGraw, the Backstreet Boys, Jason Derulo, Jason Aldean, and Bebe Rexha.
